Pure silver like pure gold is too soft in
its pure fine form. It is mixed with alloys (mainly copper)
to strengthen it & make it durable to be used in jewellery.
Imitation jewelry is made up of mixed metal or alloys, they
are relatively cheap & economical to be crafted in jewelry.
Whether silver, mixed metal imitation or pearl or beaded
jewelry it is important to take care of it so that their
gold or silver polish is preserved better.
Following step must be taken to "preserve" and “enjoy”
your jewelry.
-
Do not expose to direct water or
perfume. Remove jewelry while having a bath & spray
perfume 10 minutes before wearing jewelry.
-
Put them in plastic boxes wrapped in
muslin cloth. Some soft pouches are made of chemical
adhesives which react to the metal & turn it dark or
dull.
-
Avoid chlorine & soap or salt water hair
spray or any chemical.
-
Silver jewelry in time will oxidize with
contact to air, and turn blackish.
-
Protect jewelry from sharp blows &
scratches.
-
If you use a cleanser be careful its
a good brand and read instructions carefully before use.
